On The Mark Youth Theatre is delighted to be working with Abbey Gate College Infant & Junior School to provide a new weekly after-school Musical Theatre Club.

The club will give children the opportunity to develop their confidence and performance skills through a fun combination of acting, singing, dance and movement, led by experienced OTMYT practitioners.

The club is open to children attending Abbey Gate College Infant & Junior School from Reception to Year 6.

No previous experience is needed and there is no audition. Children are welcome whether they already love performing or are trying musical theatre for the first time.

Sessions will take place every Tuesday from 3:30pm to 4:30pm at Abbey Gate College Infant & Junior School.

Each week will include a mixture of activities such as:

• Acting and character work 
• Singing and musical theatre songs 
• Dance and movement 
• Drama games and improvisation 
• Ensemble work 
• Confidence and performance skills 

The exact content will vary from week to week and will be adapted to suit the ages and experience of the children taking part.

Sessions will be led by at least two experienced OTMYT practitioners, who are DBS checked and have undertaken safeguarding training. Please note that we reserve the right to make changes to staffing when necessary.

As the club develops over future terms, there may also be opportunities for children to work towards a short informal sharing or performance for parents and carers.

The first Abbey Gate Musical Theatre Club will run as a short five-week block after the October half-term:

• Tuesday 3 November 
• Tuesday 10 November 
• Tuesday 17 November 
• Tuesday 24 November 
• Tuesday 1 December 

All sessions run from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.

This initial block is designed to introduce children to the club and allow us to establish the group before hopefully continuing with a longer programme during the Spring and Summer Terms.

Fees

The cost is £10 per weekly session, including VAT.

The Autumn 2026 block consists of five sessions, so the total fee is £50 including VAT.

The fee is payable in advance of the first session of the term.

For future terms, the fee will continue to be calculated according to the number of sessions taking place during that term. These will be organised with the Abbey Gate school calendar in mind.

Clicking the button will take you to the OTMYT Class Manager parent portal. You will be asked to create or log in to a parent account, register your child, and provide the information we need to support them safely while attending the Abbey Gate Musical Theatre Club. This will include parent/carer and emergency contact details, medical information, allergies or medication and any additional support needs.

Once the registration has been completed, your child’s place will be confirmed and we will send you an invoice for the payment.

On The Mark Youth Theatre is a Chester-based youth theatre organisation providing acting, singing, dance and musical theatre opportunities for children and young people.

Our approach is based around “Learning by Doing”. We believe children develop confidence and performance skills most effectively by taking an active part, trying things for themselves and working together as an ensemble.
